Many times it will occur so unexpectedly and no matter how carefully we manicure our yards, everyone may be surprised by sewage problems. This is absolutely one type of water damage you do not ever want to mess with. It is probably the dirtiest, most hazardous ordeal you may ever have the unpleasantness to experience.

Sewage comes up in the neatest of yards if a line suddenly burst or comes apart at a juncture due to sewage back up, a tree root, or from the wear of an old line. If you have a large yard you might not notice it visually immediately, but it will probably not be long before you smell the situation.

Sewage system repair and clean up can get pretty costly and the faster it is taken care of the better. The first thing you must do is contact your insurance company. They may send someone to see you or advise you what to do next. In almost all these circumstances you will have to employ someone skilled to remedy the issue. For the moment, keep children and pets far away from the unsanitary section. Do not touch any of the exposed area yourself. Sewage water is very toxic and possesses all types of health compromising germs and bacteria.

If you let a company fix the sewer situation in your yard, get estimates from several well established sewer repair companies that have good service histories. Always make sure before you let someone do the job, that both parties agree exactly what the repair and clean up will include, how much you will have to spend, and how long the job will take to be completed. Put it in writing and you should not give them all the payment until the task has been finished to your satisfaction. Being licensed and insured is essential for anyone you get to work for you for your own protection

Repairing any damaged sewer pipes is a necessary part of the job, but the clean up of the very bacteria filled waste is every bit as necessary. Make sure this area of the job is done well and adheres to any local codes that might be involved dealing with sewage clean up. When your sewage problem was because of the city sewage system, they might be responsible for the cost.

Using a septic system cleaner that can be flushed down a toilet is a good precaution for build up in the sewer lines. These cleaning products are inexpensive and simple to use. They are an easy way to help keep your sewer lines clear of clogs.
