If you've let your dog become aggressive or something has turned him aggressive then you need to start dog training immediately. Certain breeds are difficult to train because of their rapid mood swings. Worst case scenario is that your dog may be removed because of his aggressive nature.

It is your responsibility to have your dog trained to teach him to behave properly and on command. Training aggressive dogs calls for a patient owner. Consistency is the key to training aggressive dogs.

In some breeds, aggressive behavior is due to a hormonal imbalance. If you have not yet neutered or spayed your dog, now is the time to go to the vet. Although this may not be a complete solution, it will suppress most aggressiveness and make dog training much easier.

Training aggressive dogs becomes easier once you identify the reason for his behavior. Some dogs suffer from anxiety separation. Other problems may include toy aggression, possessiveness, food aggression all which can be identified and solved easily with additional dog training. Certain dog breeds will have difficulty socializing with other pets in your family. That's another reason to begin training your dog early in his life. It could make a big difference.

The important thing to pay attention to while training aggressive dogs is the behavior signal that your dog gives you. Some dogs may lean into people, jump on others and show aggressive stances. These are low level aggression symptoms that can be solved in the initial stage. Biting, snarling, barking aggressively and jumping up are higher level behaviors, which need expert attention. If your dog shows signs of these symptoms, behavior modification training should be started immediately

Punishing or scolding your dog will not work and should never be considered. In fact, it will only worsen the situation. Your dog does not understand why you're hurting him. Dogs should be rewarded for good behavior so they understand the difference. Invest your money in chew toys and use them to distract your dog when he shows aggressive behavior. When he tries to turn aggressive, distract him from this behavior and call him to play with you. Make life fun for your dog. If he's mad and aggressive most of the time it's because he lives with some type of fear. Alleviate that by training or retraining him that good behavior begets him treats and fun.

Certain illnesses may annoy your dog and make him more aggressive. Proper health care is essential to keep your dog under control. Spend time to exercise him which will keep him active and fit. If nothing helps you succeed in training your aggressive dog, you should seek an expert immediately to turn his behavior around.
