Imagine collecting model trucks over the years. You have spent all your allowance on these models as well as asking for them for the holidays and at any chance you got. Now imagine that you have made the conscious decision to keep them all in their package. You would never think about taking any of these out of their box. You feel that it could potentially ruin them. Rather than take that chance you decide that you will keep them all intact until you choose the right day to take them all out of their box and enjoy them then.

As the years have moved on you have found yourself moving away from the hobby for whatever reason. You know have a lot less time to deal with collecting these than you once had. If you had been given the choice originally you would have taken your time with your model collection. Now you would rather spend time with your family. You would like to make sure that someone else would get it who would appreciate and care for it. You would also love to be able to get a fair value for it. So, how can you find this out?

The first place to start would be to find out exactly what your model collection is worth. One way to do this is to look in different collectors magazines and online as well to find out what it may be worth. The next thing that you will want to do is to start looking for a buyer for your models. If you would like to get rid of them quickly then you could list them with a free Internet sales sight this will allow you to get rid of them rather quickly if you would like to do so for a lower price than they are worth. You might also consider listing them with an online auction house. With many of them out there you will just have to use the one that best suits your needs.

There are a couple of ways to get more for your site. One of these ways is to separate your collection and sell each piece individually. List each one as such so that you can get the best deal. It may be very time consuming but you will need to list them all on separate auctions. There are a few other options as well if this is still a choice you would rather not try. You might consider setting up at a local flea market and selling your cars there. Many antique dealers will shop these and look for new additions to their shop.

You may be able to move several pieces in just such a way. If you cannot get rid of the whole collection this way then you might have to think about offering what is left to some of the dealers that are set up at the market. They will sometimes be willing to take them off of your hands if you offer them at a reduced price. As a last chance effort you might have to consider selling your collection at a local auction house. Some of these allow you to bring your personal items in and sell them there.. You might have to offer them at a highly reduced bid or offer them at no minimum but you will most usually be able to get rid of them this way. This should offer you enough options to be able to make an informed decision as to how you wish to sell your collection.
