In outdoor environments such as farms, garden centers, and even construction sites where conventional industrial carts and platform trucks are not suitable, there is still a large selection of different garden carts available. Thanks to larger wheels, heavy duty construction, and easy to maintain designs, these carts are ideal for moving things around outside.

Unlike indoor trucks and wagons, garden carts need to be usable under different weather conditions, carry items over different terrains, and be protected from dirt, water and any other materials that could potentially damage them, or impair their ability to work properly.

While outdoor capable garden carts and wagons have been available in one form or another for literally thousands of years, the latest generation of carts has been specially designed to offer the best levels of functionality with true ergonomic considerations, and a real focus on long life.

The highest quality materials are used throughout the construction of all the utility garden carts available, and they all come fully painted to help them to resist corrosion that comes from being out in all types of weather.

One of the most popular designs of lawn and garden carts available is a simple platform truck with four pneumatic wheels. These platform trucks have a mesh bottom supported by metal spars that allows loose dirt to simply drop through onto the ground, while holding pots and sacks in place. The use of mesh also prevents rainwater from pooling on the platform, and reduces the risk of rusting.

Unlike indoor carts, which feature swivel casters, and rely on being pushed to turn in the right direction, four wheel garden carts have a rotating axle at the front which is connected to a steering arm. This allows for better control of the cart when moving it around on an uneven surface.

While the standard model of cart is ideal for most situations and is extremely popular with gardeners all over the world, there are always many refinements that can be made to a design in order to make it more flexible. One such refinement that has proved a real success is the addition of a second layer to the cart, which allows for double the load to be moved around. It is important however to make sure that heavier weights are placed on the bottom level to maintain complete stability over rough surfaces.

There are also versions of the standard garden cart available with fold down sides for better protection of goods when they are being moved, and to stop things rolling off the side, and versions that come with much larger wheels to allow for use on even the most difficult terrain.

A complete departure from the standard model of garden cart is a tilt cart. These feature a very low platform that has a single pair of independent wheels mounted in the middle. These carts are very maneuverable, and surprisingly light, and allow for goods to moved with ease over most surfaces.

If you run a large commercial garden or farm, and need a means to move objects around, then the heavy duty garden carts are the perfect solution, and offer excellent value for money thanks to their hard wearing construction, which means that they are genuinely built to last.
