Prefect alignment between tape and head is essential to ensure lower error rate and improved recording/playback reliability.
To assure precise track alignment, Fuji has introduced POS (Pivoting Optical Servo) mechanism that provides excellent tape stability during heavy workloads. This helps to reduce media deterioration, thus resulting in tape longevity. Thickness of tape media has been reduced to 8.0 microns, which has allowed packing longer tape reel in the Fuji SDLT-2 tape cartridge without increasing the cartridge size.
