We usually spend eight hours or more at the workplace so it can be said that we have to not only work there but also live there as well. Besides many other issues such as bosses or salary, relationships with colleagues are also very important and require us to pay much attention to. Nowadays, relationships are not less valuable than other things like money, assets, etc.

1. Respect all colleagues

One of the key rules to have a good relationship with colleagues is to respect all the people working with you regardless of what they do, how much money they get or where they come from. Many people treat colleagues differently due to their position or origin. They treat people with higher positions well while treat people with lower positions badly. This is wrong behavior!

2. Stay friendly with all colleagues.

Whenever you meet a colleague, smile and say hello to him. You will experience good results from the action that you create. A smile is very useful and it can help us to reduce the distance with other people. In life, friendly people usually have more friends and relationships than shy ones. Friends and relationships can make your life better because they bring you happy moments and share sadness with you as well. Imagine how terrible your life will be if you do not have any good friends or relationships around you.

3. Do not talk badly about colleagues.

When you talk to your colleagues, you should keep in mind that talking bad about other colleagues is a taboo subject if you want to have good relationships. Gossiping is bad but a very common habit in offices. More women have this bad habit than men due to their being talkative. Gossiping has many bad effects. It not only breaks your relationships with colleagues but also takes your time and prevent you from concentrating on your work.

4. Avoid love at work.

Close and regular contacts everyday at work make many people fall in love with their colleagues. However, love at work is a two-edged knife. If one day your love falls apart, your life and your work will be affected much badly. Your relationship will surely become a popular topic for other people to talk about. Can you continue to work in that condition? The answer is certainly no. Therefore, in order to prevent that bad scene you should say no to love at work.

5. Do your work well

Do not think that your work and your relationships with colleagues have no relation. These are very close to each other. Your work is surely related to and has effects on other people's work. Therefore, if you do not complete your tasks or do it well, other people's work as well as the company's will be badly affected. In this case, your colleagues cannot have any sympathy for you regardless of how you respect them or how you are friendly to them.

In order to have a good relationship with your colleagues, you should not only do your work well but also help other people to complete their tasks whenever you can. Your colleagues will be very grateful for your actions.
