For just about every business there is a software package that will cover the basics. You can adapt your needs to the limitations of the software and the rest is left up to people skills to make sure things are in the right place at the right time. But is there a way to eliminate the possibility of human error?

Bespoke software, provided by many IT companies, is one way to possibly avoid any problems and to get the computer programme that specifically fits your businesses needs as opposed to leaving any gaps that need filling by people. This means that a company will spend an appropriate amount of time assessing your particular business with all its individual quirks and design bespoke software to suit.

But what is the point in going to the extra trouble and expense? Well, for a start, each and every aspect of your business can be programmed into the software. This means that many of the normal, routine processes that admin staff have to go through, can be automated saving vast amounts of hours. The type of things this could cover would be sending out reminders, invoices, creating time sheets and stock control.

For a small amount of time spent logging your customers personal data into the software, you could save a great deal of time if the software will arrange for reminders and invoices with little input from an operator. In the long run, this will save the company money on excess staff doing menial tasks. It also prevents mistakes being made which can also be costly.

Stock control is also another use for bespoke software. If all your company's products are bar coded, this will save even more time with products being scanned as they come in and go out. This way, you have a constant up-to-date record of all that should be on the premises and what needs re-ordering.

Office administration, once set up, will follow a basic routine with the same information needing to be gleaned for each customer. If you have bespoke software, then the admin tasks are going to be simpler and quicker. This will also impress your customers because paperwork will be dealt with in a timely manner, again with less chance for mistakes to happen.

Project management can be a complicated affair but the right software is one way of handling it. Most projects will run along one simple theme and can be tweaked and adjusted to suit. One programme where all updates to a project can be logged keep the process simple and effective.

For a certain size workforce, bespoke software can be designed that will log workers hours, pay due and tax paid. You could also have the same programme adapted to keep a record of job costs. This allows you to see relatively easily how your business is doing when it comes to making money balanced against outlay.

Ordering and processing systems can be made quicker and easier with the correct software depending on the type of product or service you are offering and this is where bespoke software differs from off the shelf programmes. It will be individually tailored to your needs, to the needs of your customers and the needs of your staff.

One way or another, bespoke software will soon pay for itself when life is made easier all round and your extra efficient service puts your competitors in the shade.
