In 2003 Academy Award Winning Director Ang Lee presented a live action motion of Marvel Comics The Incredible Hulk. Simply titled Hulk, the film featured an all star cast of Eric Bana, Jennifer Connelly, Nick Nolte, Sam Elliott, and Josh Lucas and had big budget special effects all included in a story radically different from the comic book lore that fans had loved for decades.

The film featured a seventy percent drop at the box office a week after its release, and it had received mixed reactions from both film critics and moviegoers alike. It seemed that this was the final nail in the coffin for fans wanting to see a correct interpretation of the beloved character.

That is, until it was announced in 2006 that director Louis Leterrier, who directed the acclaimed martial arts film Unleashed, would be directing a sequel entitled The Incredible Hulk. The film already had a script produced, and that it would be done in a more action oriented manner than its predecessor. When Eric Bana was incapable of returning to the film, it was decided that the whole film would be recast. And as a direct result of the recasting decision, it was decided that the film would not be a sequel, but instead it would be a reboot of the franchise as a means to appease fans who had been disappointed by the previous film.

And so, Dr. Bruce Banner will be played by Edward Norton, who will not only portray the character but he also wrote half of the movie. This is said to have helped in the revamping process as they are trying to steer the story closer to the comic book and television series. To do this, Marvel established their own film studio which is also being used to produce the film Iron Man.

The film focuses on Bruce Banners attempts to cure himself of his Hulk condition while on the run from General Thunderbolt Ross (played by William Hurt) and Emil Blonsky (Tim Roth). Blonsky, however, becomes exposed to gamma radiation and becomes the Hulks number one enemy The Abomination.

Along the way, Banner encounters his lost love Betty Ross (Liv Tyler), the daughter of General Ross. As the government hunts the Hulk and the Abomination at the same time, Banner must embrace the monster within in order to save all that he cares about. The Incredible Hulk is expected to open June 13, 2008.
