Your wedding invitations will do a lot more then just tell your potential guest where to go, when it is, what to where or how to get there. It will actually be the first step to setting the entire tone for this extremely important event.

Your invitations have a lot to say, and they can cost you a large amount of money, or they can be reasonably priced. We are not going to go into how you can save money on your wedding invitations. What we are going to talk about is proper etiquette for your wedding invitations.

The things that I am about to tell you are not something that is written in stone, but a few of the things should definitely be followed. One of the very most important things that you should include with your wedding invites is a response card, and a stamped, pre-addressed return envelope. It should be as easy as possible for the to reply to your wedding. This leads me to another thing that you should include clearly written instructions that state if they are allowed to bring a date or their children. This will make it easy for both you and your invited guest.

Okay the addressing of your invitation. This is an ongoing debate, but you should definitely not use address labels on your wedding invitations. Each invitation should have handwritten, or at least handwritten type font printed right on it. If you have the money to spend hire a calligrapher to handle this for you. Address labels unless it's a very casual affair should not be used.

There is nothing worse then getting a wedding invitation 3 or 4 weeks before the day, especially if some of your guests are from another state. They will need time to make the proper arrangements with the airline and hotel. Generally you should mail them out 8 to 10 weeks before your wedding.

As I have mentioned earlier these things are not written in stone and you do not need to follow them exactly, but some of them should definitely be followed, such as when your wedding invitations should be mailed out.

There are going to be so many things that you will be doing for your wedding, and it's funny how every little detail actually does make a huge difference in the outcome. Properly planning your invitation is important. You should take a few minutes and sit down and write up all of the things that you feel should be included with your invitation, such as maps to the event, local hotels in the area, if they can bring a guest or their children. Knowing these things are going to help you minimize any issues that you will have to deal with unnecessarily. You can even go one step further if you have many people coming in from out of state, you can make a list of local hotels and get the prices for them.

The least amount of people calling you asking you question the more time you can focus on planning your wedding.
