It is a well known fact that many of the accidents that happen in the home occur in the bathroom. When water is combined with slippery surfaces, it is an accident waiting to happen.

These accidents occur with normal, healthy adults just like they do with anyone more challenged like children, handicapped, or elderly people. Some of these bathroom accidents are such a shame because there are so many of them that are easily preventable.

If you have small children, especially toddlers, the bathroom should be one of your main concerns. People child proof the kitchen and put toxic chemical products out of reach or under lock and key. This is necessary as well as putting guards over plug outlets.

Many times the bathroom is not paid as much attention to as it should be. Moat parents know that you should never leave a small child unattended in the bathtub. Even when we are in the bathroom during there bath, accidents with falling in the tub or being scalded with hot water can still happen if proper precautions are not taken.

Many times a parent has probably turned to reach for a towel and the child turns the hot water on and gets scalded It can happen just that fast. Easy to use faucet covers can help prevent this terrible accident.

Small toddlers have been known to drown in a toilet bowl. It sounds bizarre, but it has happened. Lid locks will defiantly prevent this horrible thing, as well as prevent things from being put in a toilet that should not be.

Rubber bathmats inside the bathtub or shower are good from preventing anyone from slipping. Non slip rugs can be placed outside a tub or shower as well to prevent slipping and falling from water on the floor. Placing grab bars where they might be needed are easy and cheap ways to help prevent falling when someone needs aid in getting up or down.

Beside a toilet and inside and outside of bathtubs and showers are the most helpful places for these to be located. If there are elderly or handicapped individuals in your home, there a many types of seats that are useful in the tub or shower. A transfer seat or automatic lift seats are great to help people in or out of the tub or shower. Bathtubs or shower designed with doors are very popular choices for bathrooms equipped for elderly or handicapped people.
