The number of obese people has increased dramatically in recent years. There are some countries such as Australia and America in which this number doubled or even tripled after a few years till now. Obesity, indeed, has become a serious issue which must be worried about immediately. This article will give you some causes and effects of obesity.

The most significant cause of obesity is economic problems. It has two main features in families and manufacturers.

First of all, when the development of economy increases swiftly, this improves living standards which lead to an obvious change in diet. People now have a variety of food to choose. Moreover, the quality and nutrient in food are rising, too. To illustrate, in our parents' childhood, they did not have a plenty of dairy products or nutritious products like us. On the other hand, people now, especially children not only have enough food in their daily meals but also have food available everywhere. They could eat when sitting in front of computers, working, learning or watching television. That is why people are becoming inactive and obese.

Another root of obesity is the advance of technology and the advent of internet. In modern society, thanks to technology, people just have to sit unchanged, tending to work busily in work place with just fast-food at lunch or even them work via the Internet all day. It brings about them having no time to practicing or going outsides. It leads to the lack of activities which increase body weight considerably over the time.

Having examined some causes of obesity, now this article will explore some effects of this issue.

Firstly, many physical issues can result from obesity. Many dangerous diseases such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer are due to obesity. It is because fat persons eat a large amount of sugar, protein and carbon hydrate food which cannot consumed all so they are preserved in their bodies and cause diseases. Likewise, obese people are easier to cope with premature death and incurable disabilities. According to a study, 80% of obese children may be obese adults in the future and in adults' period, they are more likely to have disorders and diseases than others.

In addition, obesity affects not only physical but also mental abilities. Obese children are often teased at school and obese adults seem to be behaved not well and their ability to work is lower than others. They move slower and tend to be inactive and easier to get diseases. Obesity results in social discrimination and low self-esteem, especially when they apply for a job. It is likely to cause depression and even suicide.

In conclusion, obesity could result from economic issues and the development of modern technology. It affects directly human health as well as mental abilities such as serious diseases or being under stress, low self-esteem and depression stemming from social discrimination. Immediately, everybody must balance their intake with their used energy as well as practice everyday to have a good health and be away of obesity.
